What Information We Collect and How We Use That Information
Our registration forms require users to provide personal information that may include names, email addresses, addresses, interests, and similar information.
Donor Privacy Policy
JCC Greater Boston does not and will not sell, trade, or share a donor’s personal information with any other agency or entity unless such disclosure is necessary for the purposes set forth in this Policy, by law, or a policy or notice contained or associated with a specific JCC Greater Boston program, product, or service. This applies to all donor information received by JCC Greater Boston, both online and offline, on any platform (“platform” includes but is not limited to the JCC Greater Boston website and its mobile applications), as well as on any electronic, written, or oral communications. All donors are listed in our annual report unless anonymity is requested.
Internet Protocol Address
We collect an IP address from all visitors to our site. An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you use the internet. We use IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server, administer our site, analyze trends, track users’ movement, gather broad demographic information for aggregate use in order for us to improve the site, and deliver customized, personalized content. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.
Cookies
Our site may use cookies to enhance your experience. Cookies are pieces of information that some websites transfer to the computer that is browsing that website, and are generally used for record-keeping purposes. Use of cookies makes web surfing easier by performing certain functions, such as saving your passwords, saving your personal preferences regarding your use of the particular website, and ensuring that you don’t see the same ad repeatedly (or ensuring that your ad experiences are otherwise optimized). Many consider the use of cookies to be an industry standard. Your browser is probably programmed to accept cookies, and you will likely be prompted to accept cookies when visiting our website. However, if you would prefer not to receive cookies, you can alter the configuration of your browser to refuse cookies, or dismiss the prompt. If you choose to have your browser refuse cookies, it is possible that some areas of our site will not function as expected.
Information from cookies is used to gauge page popularity, analyze traffic patterns on our site, and guide development of other improvements to our site.
JCC Greater Boston may use analytics data and the DoubleClick cookie to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to our website.
Opt-Outs
Site visitors may opt out of the DoubleClick cookie by visiting the Google advertising opt-out page, or they may opt out of Google Analytics by visiting the Google Analytics opt-out page.
Google has additional information available about their remarketing privacy guidelines, policies, and restrictions.
Third Parties
If you choose to email us or otherwise provide us with personally identifiable information about yourself, we will not sell, rent, or otherwise disclose that information to third parties, unless such disclosure is necessary for the purposes set forth in this Policy, by law, or a policy or notice contained or associated with a specific JCC Greater Boston program, product, or service. This applies to all information received by JCC Greater Boston, both online and offline, on any platform (“platform” includes but is not limited to the JCC Greater Boston website and its mobile applications), as well as on any electronic, written, or oral communications.
Use of Information
We use your personal information and information about how you use our programs and services only to deliver communications that may be of specific interest to you. These communications may:
- Be delivered by email and by displaying ads on other companies’ websites, social media platforms, and applications.
- Be informed by our knowledge of your participation in our programs, use of our services, or from information we collect from you.
- Be aimed at driving engagement and maximizing what you get out of our programs and services.
- Include information about upcoming programs, promotions, and events we think may be of interest to you.
Sharing of Information
In order to deliver the above-mentioned communications, we sometimes share your information with our advertisers. Our advertisers collect this information using privacy-safe hashed lists, which is a type of cryptographic security method which turns the information we provide into randomized code. After comparing our hashed information with theirs, our advertisers match this information to your profile on their platforms, allowing us to deliver communications to you. Because of the nature of these hashed lists, we cannot identify any information about you from our advertisers’ data, including your identity, and our advertisers cannot identify any information about you from our data — the data serves just to discover your profile on our advertisers’ platforms. Once your profile is matched and our ability to deliver communications to you has been established, our advertisers delete the hashed lists. We do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes, and we do not share your phone number with anyone.
Opt-Outs
You can control how you receive communications from us on our advertisers’ platforms in your ad settings on their respective platforms, including disabling the use of information from us to deliver communications.
Security
All information provided to JCC Greater Boston is transmitted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption. SSL is a proven coding system that lets your browser automatically encrypt, or scramble, data before you send it to us. We also protect account information by placing it on a secure portion of our site that is accessible only by certain qualified employees of JCC Greater Boston. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of such information.

Our site contains links to other websites. Please note that when you visit one of these links, you are entering another website for which JCC Greater Boston has no responsibility. We encourage you to read the privacy statements on all such sites, as their policies may be different from ours.
