Support, Strength, and Community for Parkinson’s Awareness Month!
JCC Greater Boston is pleased to honor Parkinson’s Awareness Month, raising awareness about Parkinson’s Disease and kicking off the month with a FREE week of Parkinson’s exercise & movement demo classes. From Basic Tai Chi Movement and Cycle to Rock Steady Boxing and Table Tennis, we offer classes for everyone and every body to support adults living with Parkinson’s and their families.
Parkinson’s Exercise & Movement Demo Week starts Monday, March 31!
All demo classes are in-person only, held at the Leventhal-Sidman JCC in Newton in collaboration with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

- Cycle with Nicole and Bob I Monday, March 31 I 11-11:45am
- Rock Steady Boxing with Todd I Wednesday, April 2 I 11am-12pm (Level ½)
- Rock Steady Boxing with Todd I Wednesday, April 2 I 12:15-1:15pm (Level ¾)
- Table Tennis with Lev I Friday, April 4 I 11-11:50am (Zoom only)

Step Up Your Movement with Pole Walking!
NEW this April, experience the benefits of Pole Walking with Learn to Pole Walk for Health & Fitness. Led by a certified Urban Poling Instructor, participants will learn pole walking technique, stair/step navigation, and strength & balance exercises for a full body workout. To kick off the series and to learn how pole walking can be part of your exercise regimen, join us on Tuesday, April 1 for the Indoor Pole Walking Workshop with Heather Mistry PT, DPT.
Both programs are open to the entire community; registration is required.
Rock Steady Boxing Fight Back Fundraiser | April 11 (World Parkinson’s Day)
Join JCC Greater Boston and the Rock Steady Boxing community to celebrate each other, increase awareness about Parkinson’s disease and raise funds to support our Rock Steady Boxing program with these “knockout” opportunities:

April Movement & Exercise Challenge | April 1–April 30
In honor of Parkinson’s Awareness Month
Are you ready to step up your fitness game? Celebrate your ability to move and exercise with this activity challenge! Complete 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity (i.e. brisk walking) per week (643 minutes/month) for a chance to WIN PRIZES! Complete the challenge and you’ll be entered into a drawing for a chance to win:
- 1 45-Minute Personal Training Session ($75 value);
- JCC Branded Backpack ($50 value)
- or an InBody Composition Analysis ($18 value).
Join the Challenge!
- Click “Home” on the My J app.
- Please Note: You must log out and log back into the app in order to see the challenge.
- Tap the 3 horizontal lines in the top left corner to access the drop-down menu
- Click “Challenges”
- Select “April Movement & Exercise Challenge” and tap “Join Challenge”
- Starting April 1, select “Add Log” to record the number of minutes you exercised that day, including what type of movement/exercise in the comments
- Click “Submit”
