Pole walking is a type of walking using two walking poles to improve aerobic exercise. People can benefit from pole walking because it improves stability, upright posture, and coordination of arm and leg movements. In this special program led by Heather Mistry PT, DPT, board certified neurological clinical specialist and certified Urban Poling Instructor, learn about pole and walking, fitting of poles, how to walk with poles, stair negotiation, and how to incorporate poles in strength and balance exercises as part of an overall exercise program. Participants will also have the opportunity to try the Activator Walking Poles during the session; participants who own poles are welcome to bring them. (Pole walking exercise is most beneficial for individuals who can walk independently or with a cane and can stand for 10 minutes or greater which is required for program participation.) Cost: $25 $18 for JCC Members
