JCC Greater Boston 2024-2027 Strategic Plan

Elevate. Amplify. Engage:

Introducing JCC Greater Boston’s Strategic Plan

During the 2023-24 program year, JCC Greater Boston underwent a deep, comprehensive, and collaborative strategic planning process. It stemmed from a few key questions: What are we really good at? What can we become great at? What does it mean to be a community center today, and five years from now? How can we make it easy for people to find what they’re looking for as their needs change? How do we tell our story? And, how do we clearly define and measure our impact?

Through the process, we learned that our impact on the people we serve is deep and meaningful, and that there is a tremendous appetite for us to  grow. In the coming years, with the support of our incredible staff, our tens of thousands of users across 98 towns, our donors, and, we hope all of you, that is what we are going to do.

Our goal is to seed, nurture, and grow an expansive, affirming, connected, and evolving vision for Jewish life that strengthens us all.

We are pleased to share with you our multiyear Strategic Plan: Elevate. Amplify. Engage.

In this plan, you will see much of our thinking about how to meet our ambitious goals. We hope you are both inspired and excited to be part of our evolution and growth.

Executive Summary

JCC Greater Boston believes in a vibrant and evolving future in which everyone belongs. JCC Greater Boston has long been uniquely positioned to offer experiences that serve distinct and personalized needs for the growing diversity of our collective Jewish community. This is done through a portfolio of excellent, innovative, reliable, multi-generational programs at the Leventhal-Sidman JCC in Newton, and regionally at our satellite sites that include preschools and Camp Grossman, and beyond walls programs geared toward young families exploring their Jewish identities.

Demand for JCC childcare programs is at an all-time high, and the JCC is well positioned for growth to serve preschool and school-aged children and their families. Membership and enrollment in teen and adult programs are meeting or exceeding pre-pandemic levels, with further growth anticipated following the completion of the Leventhal-Sidman JCC lobby, security, and cafe renovations in Fall 2024, coupled with the Spring 2025 opening of the Opus residences operated by our partner, 2Life Communities.

This strategic plan is the result of a nine-month long, collaborative process involving JCC Board, leadership, staff, and community stakeholders. The plan outlines JCC Greater Boston’s deep commitment to building on our strengths, investing in the community, and broadening and deepening our impact over the next several years through growth, innovation, and operational excellence.

In the coming years, with the support of our incredible staff, the tens of thousands of community users across 98 cities and towns in Massachusetts, organizational partners, stakeholders, donors, and our community that is what we are going to do. This strategy is designed to function as a virtuous cycle, in which, with an eye toward impact and growth, we strengthen our operational foundations and celebrate in collaboration with the community and philanthropic partners across Greater Boston and beyond.
