Health & Safety
JCC Greater Boston takes the welfare and safety of staff and children very seriously. Over 99% of our staff have been vaccinated. We have aligned all of our operating procedures with guidance from the CDC and the state. Our practices include ensuring proper physical distancing, sanitation, hygiene, and use of face coverings, when appropriate, to promote the health of our staff and program participants.
Swim
Adaptive Swim Instructor / Part Time
JCC Greater Boston is seeking a part-time Adaptive Aquatics Instructor. This position is a great opportunity for someone who thrives on making a difference and has experience in teaching skills that enrich the lives of children and adults with disabilities. The JCC Greater Boston’s Adaptive Specialist Swim Program is an opportunity for you to transform the lives of people you work with while developing lifelong skills.

At JCC Greater Boston, our Adaptive Swim Instructors use previous experience, coupled with the Swim Angelfish methodology, while receiving significant team support. The Aquatics Team is a lively and fun group to work with. We seek new team members who possess high standards, are customer service-oriented, and are collaborative.
This position will pay in the range of $30-$40/hr. as a starting salary. The salary offered will ultimately be determined by the hours the employee will work, the scope of the position, the candidate’s relevant experience, and internal equity. The hours for this position would be +/- 15 hours/week.
Responsibilities of Adaptive Aquatics Instructor
- Create a safe, supportive environment which fosters confidence and develops swimmer proficiency
- Ensure the safety of all swimmers by implementing preventative measures and minimizing hazardous situations
- Teach swimming techniques and water safety skills to students of all ages with special needs, using prior experience and the Swim Angelfish curriculum
- Establish individual swim goals, identify roadblocks, address challenges, and help swimmers meet swim skill benchmarks that create water safety, increase leisure and promote overall swim abilities
- Use discretion, adapting the approach, as needed, to meet the unique needs of each swimmer
- Provide ongoing, effective communication with the supervisor regarding all classes and programming
- Maintain class records
- Manage equipment used for sessions
- Recognize and respond according to protocols for emergencies
- Other duties, as assigned
Qualifications of Adaptive Aquatics Instructor
- Is 16 years of age or older
- Has a high school education or equivalent
- Must have valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification
- Is calm, patient, flexible, creative, and empathic
- Has prior experience working with various populations in the adapted space, including children and adults
- Has a love working with both children and adults, helping them achieve their goals
- Has strong customer service and teamwork orientation
- Has intermediate swimming skills
- Is able to use a gentle, effective approach when working, being able to adjust to different personalities, aptitudes, and attentional levels
- Is able to attend in-person and online training (Paid Training)
- Is able to work a flexible schedule
- Demonstrates an ability to communicate with community members and coworkers in person effectively – in person, over email, and on the phone
Essential Functions of Adaptive Aquatics Instructor

Aqua Zumba Instructor / Part Time
JCC Greater Boston is searching for someone that is dynamic, fun and personable to teach Aqua Zumba classes. This person will have a passion for exercising and will want to help people reach their in-water goals. The ideal candidate will be a creative teacher who makes the class time a highlight of the participants’ weeks. While Aqua Zumba training experience is desired, JCC will work with the otherwise qualified candidates to train in the Aqua Zumba specialty. Instructors will be in charge of class preparation, including music and day-to-day preparations. This position is for two hours per week in Newton.

Swim Coach
NEWTON, MA
The Karishim Swim Club (KASC) of the JCC Greater Boston is looking for an Assistant Swim Coach. This position will play an important role in the JCC Greater Boston community, assuring program excellence and encouraging program expansion. JCC Greater Boston is a lively, inviting place to work where there is a strong sense of teamwork and rewarding meaningful work. This full-time position is in Newton, Massachusetts.

Responsibilities of Assistant Swim Coach
- prepare practices on a weekly basis based on the phase of training and swimmers’ needs/ability, maintaining a focus on technique, skill development, and athlete development
- coordinate training methodologies, drills, and practice group goals with Head Coach
- develop responsibilities of and rules for swimmers, coaches and parents, educating each group on these norms
- ensure open communication with parents to ensure education and communication on all aspects of long-term athletic development
- collaborate closely with the Aquatics Staff and other coaches to promote the club as a whole
- manage the recruitment, retention, and individual development plans for new athletes
- provide assistance to Aquatics Head Coach with the overflow of administrative tasks
- support JCC Greater Boston’s mission, values, and strategic goals
- attend coach’s meetings (approximately 4-5/year)
- contribute to overall organizational success
Qualifications of Assistant Swim Coach
- has a USA Swimming Coaches Certification or the ability to obtain coaches certification within the first 14 days of hire
- maintains good membership standing with USA Swimming and New England Swimming
- is able to exhibit strong effective teaching/communication skills
- is knowledgeable of strokes and skill techniques
- has knowledge of season/workout planning and dryland training/technique
- has prior coaching experience with athletes of all ages
- Lifeguard, CPR/AED/ First Aid certification

Head Lifeguard & Swim Instructor
JCC Greater Boston is seeking a full-time Head Lifeguard and Swim Instructor. As part of this dynamic team, the successful candidate will lifeguard and provide swim classes. This person will also assist with customer communications and administrative tasks. The Aquatics Department certifies our swim instructors in the Swim Right Method and provides significant team support.

- Enforce the rules and regulations of the pools consistently

Indoor/Outdoor Pool Lifeguard / Part Time
JCC Greater Boston is seeking a part-time Indoor and Outdoor Pool Lifeguard. This seasonal position would allow you to use your lifesaving skills while being a part of a dynamic team. JCC Greater Boston lifeguards create a safe and welcoming place for community members. As part of this energetic team, the successful candidate will lifeguard, keeping members and guests safe, while creating a welcoming environment. The Aquatics Team is a lively and fun group to work with. This is an onsite role in Newton, which will run from May through Labor Day weekend.

Swim Team Coach Part Time
NEWTON, MA
The Karishim Swim Club at the JCC Greater Boston in Newton MA is looking for a Swim Coach (KASC). The Aquatics Department is a friendly, high-performing team that is inspired to use its knowledge and passion to help athletes grow in and out of the pool. Swim coaches work with enthusiastic families and colleagues as they develop their team. This is a part-time position 22+ hours/week including weekend meets.

Responsibilities of Swim Team Coach
- Prepare practices on a weekly basis based on the phase of training and swimmers’ needs/ability, maintaining a focus on technique, skill development, and athlete development
- Create recruitment, retention, and athletic development plans for new athletes.
- Work closely with the Aquatics Staff and other coaches to promote the club as a whole.
- Participate in weekend swim meets, as required
- Attend all coach’s meetings (approximately 4–5/year)
- Help determine swimmers’ events for meet entries
- Develop roles and responsibilities of parents, swimmers, and coaches, as well as individual athletic plans. Open communication with parents to ensure education and communication on all aspects of long-term athletic development.
- Teach supplemental private lessons to swim team members
- Other duties, as needed
Qualifications of Swim Team Coach
- Has USA Swimming Coaches Certification or ability to obtain coaches certification within the first 14 days of hire
- Has strong, effective teaching/communication skills
- Has stroke and skill techniques as well as dryland training/technique
- Has coaching experience with athletes of all ages, including the development of season/workout plans
- Is able to maintain good membership standing with USA Swimming and New England Swimming
- Demonstrates an ability to communicate with community members and coworkers in person effectively, over email, and on the phone

After School Educator / Part Time

The JCC Greater Boston is seeking a part-time After School Educator to assist in the creation of enriching, supportive, and memorable experiences for children enrolled in Discovery Club after school. Discovery Club, located at the Leventhal-Sidman JCC in Newton, is an active and entertaining after-school program for children in grades K-5. This role is great for someone looking to make a difference in the lives of children while being a part of a collaborative, optimistic, and welcoming environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Foster creative and vibrant classrooms in a safe and enriching environment
- Create and lead engaging experiences for children in grades K-5 (ages 5-11 yrs)
- Support and implement robust social emotional learning, Jewish experiential learning, and general enrichment with the guidance of Discovery Club Leadership.
- Complete some hours of orientation and onboarding prior to being in the classroom.
- Ensure compliance with Early Education & Care (EEC) policies and regulations.
- Ride transportation or supervise public school transportation pick up, as needed.
- Participate as a team member in Family Programming meetings and training
- Communicate effectively with Discovery Club leadership and team staff

QUALIFICATIONS
- Is age 18 or older

Based on licensing requirements, After School Educators must meet one of these three sets of qualifications:
- Nine months experience working with children OR
- A high school diploma or equivalent and six months of experience working with children OR
- An Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a related field, plus 3 months of experience working with children
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- work well in a busy, dynamic, and sometimes noisy environment involving multiple tasks and priorities

Pilates Reformer Instructor
NEWTON, MA
Are you a Pilates Instructor who enjoys being part of a cohesive team? Are passionate about helping clients meet their fitness goals? Are you someone who thrives on working with a diverse customer base, helping both clients dealing with injuries, as well as athletes? We are looking for a part-time instructor to teach private and semi-private lessons in our state of the art, well-established STOTT Pilates Studio. Daytime, weekend, and evening hours are available.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop individual training plans based on client needs and goals
- Train clients in individual, duets and trios sessions (typically 1 hours sessions)
- Share responsibility for equipment cleaning
- Model a strong customer service mindset, creating a pleasant participant experience
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong customer service and relationship building skills
- Certified STOTT Matwork and Reformer instructor or apprentice Pilates instructor working towards certification.
- Trained in Cadillac, Chair, & Barrel
- CPR/AED Certified
