About Our Honorees

Marcy & Mitchell Leiman

Marcy & Mitchell have been active members and volunteers at JCC Greater Boston since they moved to Needham 15 years ago. Both of their children Hannah and Seth attended the Godine Early Learning Center for pre-school and Camp Grossman for many years. They have often been outdoor pool members, taken soccer classes, had  birthday parties and regularly used the facility and programs during this time.

Mitchell was the JCC representative on Hale Education’s board in 2016-2018. Mitchell joined the JCC board in 2017, and is currently the Chair of the Committee of Strategic Alignment. He also served on the steering committee for the JCC’s recently concluded strategic planning process and has been on the planning committee for many JCC Galas.

Marcy has been on the planning committee for the JCC Gala for several years and is often seen in weekly Zumba classes. She has helped to support the professional JCC team in recruiting participants to various events including joint programming with 2Life Communities and has enjoyed many summers at the outdoor pool. In her professional life, Marcy has been serving in the senior home care space as an outreach and marketing director.

Mitchell has been an executive in the technology space for the last decade with leadership positions at Gannett, Cimpress/Vistaprint and Constant Contact. Prior to that Mitchell was a Partner at Bain & Company and worked at Goldman Sachs. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Georgetown University and holds a Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School.

Hank and Dianne Abbott

Hank and Diane Abbott have been members of the Leventhal-Sidman JCC since it opened in 1983.

Hank and Diane are not only generous donors to all of our programs and services, but Hank is a charter member of the JCC’s Men’s Health Center. They have a deep passion for JCC Greater Boston and all it has to offer, in particular, camping, the arts and the Health and Wellness programs including our program for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease.

Their passion not only comes from their deep sense of philanthropic responsibility, but also as users of the JCC’s programs, for both of them and their family. They are the classic long time JCC members, participating in all of the programs they deeply care about, as well as making sure that those who have financial need receive assistance in order to afford the ability to participate in them.

Professionally, Hank was the owner of Bird’s Hill Pharmacy from 1960-2017. The family tradition is carried on, as his nephew, Andy Stein, took over the business in 2017. While owning and running Bird’s Hill, Hank was active in many Jewish organizations, the Mass Pharmacists Association and the Needham Rotary. Hank is a true pillar of the Needham and Newton communities. Additionally, Hank is still an active member of the JCC’s Men’s Health Center Committee.

Diane worked for many years in the Milton Public Schools as a teacher as well as at Solomon Schechter Day School. After retiring she took many art classes at the Leventhal-Sidman JCC.

Hank and Diane enjoy going to the opera and were long time season ticket holders for the New England Patriots.

Hank and Diane are parents to three daughters, Heidi, Suzanne and Rosalee, and have six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
