Drawing Nature in Pen & Ink - Adults - Fall

(All levels) Animals, birds, reptiles, and plants have fascinated artists since humans began to make art. In this class we will explore anatomy and botany while learning the basic techniques of pen and ink drawing. We will learn how to draw from life, as well as how to use photographic reference. Monotype: Using A Press - Adults - Fall

(Beginners) Explore the process of creating monotypes, employing a variety of processes including direct painting, viscosity, direct trace drawing, relief printing, and chine colle (monotype collage). New to Oil Painting - Adults - Fall

(Beginners) Start with exercises needed to learn oil painting such as brush handling and painting with limited palettes. Finding shape, values and edges, color mixing, drawing and compositions will be covered. Bring soft pencil, eraser, sketchbook and several choices of pictures to work from to first class. Oil and Acrylic Painting - Adults - Fall

(Intermediate/Advanced) Study color theory and the fundamental concepts of mixing and controlling color. Emphasis will be on students’ needs and styles of expression. Popular children’s entertainer Stacey Peasley is thrilled to combine her love of young children with her musical talents into a lively class that engages kids and creates fun sing-alongs. Using instruments and props, kids will move to music ranging from pop and rock to children’s favorites and Stacey originals.  All JCC arts and humanities offerings are programs of the Ryna Greenbaum JCC Center for the Arts.

Dance Choreography - Adults - Fall

LSJCC, Start Date: 09/16/2014, End Date: 10/28/2014, Time: 11:00 AM-12:00 PM

Take dance a step further and work on your expression and technique. Both an exercise for the body and brain, learn underlying technique in sections until a dance routine is completed and danced with expression. Movements will be lyrical, contemporary, jazz and other genres not often encountered in a group exercise class. No dance experience necessary. Cheryl Umana

En Plein Air - Adults - Fall

(All Levels) In a variety of mediums including pastel, oil and acrylic, you will address the challenges of painting outdoors, finidng compositions, changing light, color in direct light and shadow, as well as finding values outside. Weather permitting, sites may include Elm Bank Horticultural Society in Wellesley, South Natick Falls among others. First class and back-up studio at JCC. Materials list supplied at registration. Intermediate Tennis - Adults - Fall

Drills will be targeted for stroke consistency, technique, directional control, depth and dependability. Players will work to sustain rallies, improve net play, develop better touch, and understand court coverage. Doubles play and strategy will also be covered. Doug Maynard
